With an abundance of snow, mountains, and hills, the South Lake Tahoe area is filled with sledding and tubing spots. From professional tubing runs to local neighborhood sledding hills, you will be sure to find the perfect activity for everyone in your family or group.
Heavenly Mountain – Tubing & Mini Tubing
Feel the rush of snow tubing without any of the hard work! Located at the top of the Gondola, Heavenly’s tubing hill is over 500 feet long and has a convenient magic carpet to take you and your tube back up to the top. The perfect winter family activity!
Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe – Echo Summit
Nestled on over 40 pristine acres at the top of Echo Summit, Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe is South Lake Tahoe’s premier machine-groomed sledding, tubing, and snow play resort. Enjoy up to 15 groomed sledding runs, lunch and a hot cocoa in the Mountainside Cafe, rental equipment, and plenty of snow to play in as this snow park is the highest in the Tahoe Basin, which means it accumulates the highest snowfall!
Tubing at Borges Sleigh Rides
Located on Lake Parkway, across from the MontBleu parking area, is Borges Sleigh Rides. Offering horse-drawn sleigh rides and snowmobiling, they also have a large tubing hill. A very popular place for visitors to go to as it is adjacent to the casinos, so it can become quite crowded with lines during the weekends and holidays.
Sledding at the Top of Spooner Summit
If you find yourself at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 28 at Spooner Summit, there is a large sledding hill on the side of the road that has become quite a popular stop over the years with visitors and locals alike. Bringing your own sleds is required; there are no rentals.
Kahle Park
Located on the Nevada side of the South Shore across from the Lakeside Inn, Kahle Park unofficially has sledding hills during the winter months.
Another (free) option is to take a walk around the neighborhood your South Lake Tahoe vacation rental is located in; there are typically some hills where the kiddos can make an impromptu sledding hill. As always, helmets are recommended, and please remember to take your memories and sled trash with you!
