For many of us, pets are members of the family, and taking a family vacation means bringing everyone, including our fur babies! Here at Buckingham, we understand that Lake Tahoe is not only a year round playground for humans, but for our canine companions as well, and we offer a number of pet-friendly vacation rentals. With almost endless outdoor activities to do around the south shore year round, your canine friend will also get to enjoy time spent in the mountains. Some of the local pet friendly activities include: getting some exercise on the hiking trails, room to run in the meadows, streams and creeks for cooling off, water sports like standup paddleboarding and kayaking, the dog park for socializing, grabbing a bite at some of the local restaurants, frolicking in the abundance of snow during the winter months… and of course, swimming in the lake at pet-friendly beaches!
But of course there may be some times during the vacation when you may want to leave your fur baby at your pet-friendly Lake Tahoe vacation rental, like during a night out on the town. Here on the south shore, petting sitting and dog walking services are available, should you want someone to check in on your pet while you are out.
Please note: It is required in South Lake Tahoe to have your dog on a leash at all times, even on the beaches and hiking trails; it is a law and you can get ticketed if you do not comply. It is recommended to have your pet chipped, and have the most current contact information on their tags, should you get separated from your fur baby. And please remember that although we are a dog friendly town here on the south shore, not all dogs like be approached by other dogs. Be sure to do some research on where the pet friendly locations are around town, and our local laws, to ensure you and your canine companion have the safest Tahoe experience possible!
